How we check codes

The routine every offer goes through, from feed to card to removal.

People ask what “checked by people” means on a coupon site. Here is the whole routine, in the order it happens.

The feed arrives

Retailers publish their live offers through affiliate networks. We pull those feeds and drop anything that is not a real, usable discount for a US shopper: foreign-currency offers, plain links pretending to be codes, restricted categories and duplicates.

Someone reads it

Each remaining offer is read by a person. The title is rewritten so it says what the saving is, the conditions are pulled out into short lines, and the code is tried with a real item in a basket. If it does not apply, the offer does not get a card.

The date goes on the card

We print the end date the retailer supplied. If the retailer supplied none, the card says “no end date given” — we never invent one to create urgency.

It comes down on time

On its end date an offer leaves every live list. It sits in a clearly labelled “recently expired” area for a few days so you can see what changed, then it is deleted.

You can send it back

If a code fails for you, tell us. We re-test it that day and remove it if it is dead.

What you will not see anywhere on BargainSaga: star ratings, “verified today” stamps, “used 340 times” counters or prices we have not looked at. None of those can be checked, so none of them are printed.
